WFG Reviews Reveal Phony Phishing Scam Using the Company's Name

After some negative WFG reviews came out about suspicious business activities in Columbia, this reputable financial services marketing company had to face the fact that its good name was being used for a South American scam. A group of fraudulent individuals was using the World Financial Group name as part of an email phishing scam in Columbia, which was part of an attempt to steal personal information for the purpose of capital gain. World Financial Group wants the public to understand that it is not affiliated with these criminals and does not even do business in South America.

Apparently, the World Financial Group name was being used to secure personal information and documentation from Columbian citizens, with the promise that they would be flown to Canada, given employment and provided with visas in cooperation with the Canadian Embassy, as long as they provided the necessary information.

WFG never sent any such email, nor has it ever been in the practice of providing visas to people who move to North America to work for the company. This is all part of an elaborate identity theft scam which has had very unfortunate consequences for some unsuspecting people in South America. It is disheartening that criminals would use the name of a reputable company to secure money from hardworking people illegally, and the WFG team wants to put an end to it.

It is always a good and safe practice to avoid sending any sort of personal information in response to an email from an organization, even if it seems like a reputable one. There are, unfortunately, many scammers out there who will use the name of a trusted organization to “phish” for information from individuals in order to steal their identities. Once these criminals have the information, they can use it to apply for credit cards, loans and mortgages, among other fraudulent activities. Information should only be shared with a company through a safe, secure, protected website. A reputable company would never ask for proprietary information via email if the individual receiving the email hadn’t corresponded with the company beforehand.

If you have heard any negative WFG reviews regarding an email phishing scam in Columbia, it is important to know that it is not the company’s doing. World Financial Group doesn’t do business in Columbia and does not plan to expand there, nor to begin hiring its citizens and helping them to procure Canadian work visas, at any time in the future.
